Analysis of Conversation

Turn Taking
We can notice
that this data extract consists two turn at talk from different speaker. Mr.
Alex uses rising intonation and eye contact to signal the end of the turn while
Ms. Rosie uses falling intonation

Adjacency Pairs
In this brief
sequence, Mr. Alex utters the first pair part (FPP) I’ve got news in line 1
this type of utterance may be defined as giving information. In the second line
Ms. Rosie responds with the second pair part (SPP) Me, too of response to the
giving information too. In this case, the SPP is Preferred Response because the
statement is accepted by Ms. Rosie who said Me, too. they had previously
planned to tell each other their news.
